Why was this page created?
While being on our Follow The Road trip we were discussing about the huge number of trips going on all around the world. There was an Argentinean friend travelling for one year in Europe and Asia, a French reaching Antarctica by hitch-hiking while being on the road already three years, a Russian travelling for many months in Latin America, a Polish girl hitch-hiking alone through Africa, a German preparing his around the world trip...
This list seems endless. No matter which direction we looked or listened to, everywhere the wind was whispering about a new trip. When we travel we would like to meet other long-term travellers and share experiences. But how to find them? How to locate other travellers in the country we are in at that moment? Here we thought of how good it would be just to have one place that lists all the trips and their current locations. Such website could be a great place for all of our fellow travellers to locate and meet each other in the countries they are travelling in. Unfortunately, we found nothing similar on the Internet. At that point we were hit like a bolt from the blue - Why not to create such webpage ourselves?
There are plenty of webpages where tourists and travellers can arrange meetings, chat in the forums, share experiences and do much more. Unfortunately, all of these websites have too many features. At the end, one gets just lost.
We, instead, wanted something simple, easy to understand and navigate.
Thus, we started developing the AllBigTrips.com - webpage, which would list all ongoing trips around the world. Where each of the trips would have a basic information about the dates, participants and the journey ideas.
To tell the truth, we were struggling to find the right colors for our new page. One night in Belize (Central America) we were brushing teeth and... Guess what? We looked at the red-blue tube of "Colgate" tooth paste. This tube was the winner - we got the idea for the colors of the website! :)
During the development of AllBigTrips.com we felt that together with ongoing journeys, it would be very interesting to keep a list of past trips, and to hear about future ones.
Often travellers would like to show the route they have gone. That's why we introduced so called route-maps, which are easy to include on websites. The travel routes on maps are drawn online by few mouse clicks (no need to install complicated graphical programs)! The route-maps are very useful for friends, families, and your website visitors to follow your journey.
We tried to make this page as clear and simple as possible. Please, give us feedback and we will try to adjust the website to everybody's needs.
